Barley groats due to the fact that they are produced from the decapsulated and sliced barley they belong to the products not fully processed and consequently very nourished and valued. They contain the natural polysaccharides (starch) – the composed sugars that become glucose in our body giving us the energy for so long! What is more, in the groats there is a lot of cellulose, which reduces cholesterol in our blood, prevents constipations and makes us saturated for a long time by swelling in our stomachs. Additionally, there are a great amount of plant proteins, mineral nutrients like iron, magnesium, copper, potassium and phosphorus and vitamins (especially form group B). In comparison to other groats, barley groats have lots of niacin (Vitamin PP), which has an influence on our skin condition.
Barley groats are the basis of the barley soup. They are also used as the main courses with vegetable and meat meals, meat pies and stuffing.
